Hello everyone.
Ever been stuck in a situation where you are actually trying your level best to study for your exam that is scheduled to happen the very next day but you simply can't focus because your mind is packed with random thoughts.
Almost 90 percent of the students face this problem. Even I used to face this problem at one point in my life.
So what name shall I give to this problem?😕
Its actually OVERTHINKING-
a mental state where your mind simply thinks a lot on random topics for a long period time.
SO IS OVERTHINKING ACTUALLY BAD?
There's no clear cut YES/NO to this particular question. In some cases, overthinking can actually be detrimental for your health while in some other cases, it's actually beneficial.
So let me share different scenarios where Overthinking is bad and some other scenarios where Overthinking is good.
OVERTHINKING IS BAD
- As a student, you are sitting at home during this lockdown period and are constantly thinking as to when will the school/college reopen. You have ruined your day to day activities simply by asking all your friends and teachers that what's the probability of reopening of schools/colleges by the end of this month.
- As a college student, you are thinking that when will your crush actually approach you. During the class hours in the college, your mind is occupied by your crush's thoughts and you are thinking that when would he/she propose me.
- As a first year college student, you are constantly thinking that what sort of skills can you develop in the next 3-4 years of your college so as to prosper in your life in general as well as in your career
- As a high school student, you are constantly thinking that what sort of courses you can opt for after your 12th standard, i.e. in which field you are actually interested to study and work for the rest of your life.
- if the reason for which you are overthinking is actually logical/practical in real life.
- if you would make a much wiser decision after your overthinking on a particular topic
- if a particular decision about a particular topic is a DO OR DIE situation for you
- Your normal day to day activities get hampered
- Topic on which you are overthinking is not logical or practical enough for investing time and energy into it
- Your energy is simply getting drained to a great extent as a result of which you are feeling guilty about yourself later

- Repeating positive affirmation sentences like
